Made by Jay Fiske
The Skyscape series is a continuation of visual artist Jay Fiske’s experiments with constrained forms and composition, a turn from his long ongoing series of portal paintings into work that’s more elemental, dimensional, textural, and ecologically traceable. Drawing heavily from his experience working with natural building materials, this series is meant to foreground material as much as subject. These minimal compositions are stunning, grounding, and potent: visual monuments, pristine artifacts, and timeless representations of the innate durability of the natural world.
Each piece is created on a foundational wood frame and hangs easily with common hardware.
MINERAL showcases new works by multi-disciplinary artists Jay Fiske and Kelly Schirmann of Omo Studio. This series of “paintings” utilizes elemental materials such as plaster, marble, pigment, sand and clay to create textured land- and sky-scapes with a reverence for the raw material from which they were shaped. Developed by two artists in constant creative, ecological, and utopian conversation, MINERAL presents many new and layered visions of and for our shared earth: resonant landscapes, mutable elements, the impermanent and essential durability of all that’s here.
